Nizar’s professional life combines academic, industrial and entrepreneurial experience, in both the private and not-for-profit sectors. While living in France, he was a tenure track professor at the EPITA engineering school and researcher at the University Pierre & Marie Curie in Paris, working on high performance, low power electronic design automation products. Since 1994, he has been co-director and lecturer at the ICTP-UNESCO in Italy, of a technology workshop geared towards scientists, researchers and University professors from developing countries.
Between 1986 and 1993, Nizar co-founded Arconix SA in Paris; a startup developing scientific applications for renowned names in the European Automotive and Aerospace industry. Nizar currently occupies the position of Director of Software and Systems Engineering, at Microsemi SoC Products Group™ (formerly Actel Corp), where he has been for 12 years leading a R&D group in designing low-power micro-electronic solutions.
Nizar is a world citizen who lived, studied and worked in many countries, developed and developing, which provided him a strong motivation for being an active member of the Presidio community. He is convinced that higher education has a major responsibility toward future generations in offering a systemic vision to future leaders, policy makers and citizens. This is a condition sine qua non to address many of the critical issues of our time; sustainability being the most challenging one on which our long-term survival depends.
Nizar is also member of the Presidio Graduate School Board of Directors.
