Academics

Our Programs

With a focus on sustainable management, Presidio Graduate School goes beyond the conventional content taught in other graduate and executive programs. The MBA and MPA degree programs, Dual MBA/MPA and Executive Certificates incorporate sustainability concepts and competencies in every course.

Each academic program is designed to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence that prepare students to lead in the 21st century. The MPA and MBA in sustainable management feature a rigorous, integrated curriculum, with each course connecting to and building on the others. These programs enable students to apply sustainability frameworks and methods in their courses, careers, entrepreneurial plans and experiential learning projects involving private and public organizations. Internships with corporations, nonprofit organizations and government agencies provide additional opportunities to put sustainable management into practice.

This integration allows Presidio Graduate School students to take a systems approach to solving business and policy problems. With a strong foundation in sustainable management, they graduate ready to innovate and make a positive impact on society as well as the bottom line.

Teaching Method

Presidio Graduate School MBA and MPA degree programs in sustainable management combine the energy and interaction of face-to-face learning with the convenience of online education to create a vibrant learning community that engages, inspires and challenges students and faculty, as well as business and policy leaders, to make the world more just, prosperous and sustainable every day. Through this hybrid teaching method, students maximize both their time and networking with faculty and classmates equally committed to the idea and ideals of a master in sustainability focused on business and public policy.

Online, students meet and work together and with faculty members through an instructional platform using the latest technology. This virtual classroom portal allows them to access assignments, participate in forum discussions, and collaborate on team projects. Webinars and teleconference services provide additional ways to enhance students’ sustainable management education.

For two to four days each month, students gather in San Francisco for concentrated classroom time as well as breakout sessions, presentations and lively discussions with faculty, classmates and guest speakers.

In courses throughout the MBA and MPA degree programs, students and faculty address the essentials of management, such as governance, operations, economics and finance, but also focus on decision-making in the context of a whole system. Our teaching emphasizes the human and leadership dimensions of sustainable management that drive practical action, sustainable solutions and success in today’s complex business and policy environment.

Interacting with faculty who are scholar-practitioners and each other, students cultivate the sustainability ethics and leadership skills to change institutions and society at the same time they develop a strong understanding of the tools and principles of sustainable management.
